Certified Professional ACT English (English/Reading/Writing) Test Preparation
The ACT English includes two sections: English and Reading, plus an optional Writing section. The English section contains 75 multiple-choice questions that must be completed in 45 minutes. The questions cover grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and rhetorical skills. The Reading section includes 40 multiple choice questions which students must complete in 35 minutes. There are four passages (prose fiction, social studies, humanities, and natural science) with 10 questions per passage. The Writing section is optional, however it is highly recommended that students take the ACT with Writing. Some colleges require it, and it will strengthen a student’s college application even for those schools that do not. The Writing section involves reading a prompt followed by three perspectives, and then taking a position on the prompt while assessing the perspectives. Synergy Academics ACT tutors are able to help students prepare for the ACT English sections by providing proven strategies for test taking and by reviewing sample questions and essay prompts. Students will also have access to practice tests so that they can be prepared for the official test day. The ACT score is calculated by averaging all sections of the tests and is out of a total of 36 points.
