Financial Aid Services
In addition to the stress of getting accepted to college, many students and parents are concerned with how they will pay for it! The cost of education continues to increase each year and can sometimes place a financial burden on families. But scholarships and financial aid are available to students through the colleges they apply to, plus there are many community organizations, agencies, and private businesses that offer scholarships to quality students who are willing to take the time to apply. The key is to know where to look and how to apply. The process can be overwhelming.
What are the different types of financial aid available? What’s the difference between the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS/Financial Aid Profile forms.? What is a Non-Custodial parent form? The FAFSA is the gateway federal application to financial aid, and must be submitted in order to be considered for grants and student loans. Making mistakes on this form can cost you money, time, or both. It’s critically important to get it right the first time. The CSS/Financial Aid Profile is an additional form required by some schools, designed to give them a closer look at the finances of the student and his or her family.

It is much more detailed than the FAFSA. In the case of divorced parents, the Non-Custodial form is sometimes required, as many colleges believe strongly that it is the responsibility of both biological/adoptive parents to pay for the student’s college expenses, regardless of where, or with whom, the child lives.
