Connecting a Caring Community
Connecting A Caring Community (CCC), founded by Lisa Kodimer, is a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to mobilize the community and raise funds to provide relief for those with the most need. CCC strives not to merely write a check to recipients but to encourage others into action through its programs. CCC has a number of different specialized programs including Connecting with Friends, Connecting with Teens, Connecting with Moms and Moms in Action. Jennifer Lopata, President of Synergy Academics, serves on the Board of Directors for CCC and hosts meetings for all of the various CCC programs and groups at the Synergy Academics Tutoring Center. Synergy Academics has also provided pro bono standardized test prep to low income students identified by CCC.
David Labkovski Project - Student Ambassador Program
The David Labkovski Project (DLP), founded by Leora Raikin, is an educational program inspired by the work of artist and Holocaust survivor David Labkovski. He was exiled to Siberia, surviving the harsh conditions by drawing portraits and acting as a tattoo artist, only to return to his once vibrant Lithuanian community and find both it and its Jewish community decimated. After immigrating to Israel in 1958, David created an entire body of work to illustrate what he had seen. It was his dream that the artwork would be shared with a broad audience to bear witness to the past and share his renewed hope for the future.
Synergy Academics is happy to sponsor the DLP Student Ambassador Program. DLP Ambassadors are carefully selected to be leaders at their schools, promote Holocaust education, and to further the legacy of David Labkovski and his artwork. Ambassadors increase awareness of the project at their schools and in their communities, represent the DLP at events and ceremonies, and attend regularly scheduled meetings throughout the year. We are proud to sponsor this meaningful program that gives students an excellent leadership and learning opportunity. The DLP Ambassadors meet throughout the year and their meetings are hosted by Synergy Academics at its West Hills Tutoring Center.

West Hills Champions
West Hills Champions is a baseball league for young people with special needs. Initially started as a bar mitzvah project by Kole Kodimer, the program has continued to grow from 18 kids and 40 volunteers to six teams and more than 100 teenage volunteers or “buddies.” The program not only benefits the special needs kids, but also gives the teenage volunteers the character enrichment that comes with making a difference and giving back. Synergy Academics is happy to have a relationship with West Hills Champions and to host its bi-annual Season Kick-Off meetings at the Tutoring Center.
Fulfillment Fund
The Fulfillment Fund is dedicated to making college a reality for students growing up in educationally and economically under-resourced communities. Intervention includes classroom instruction, mentoring, one-on-one college counseling and experiential learning experiences – all with the hope of opening students’ eyes to the idea of higher education and changing their beliefs of what they are capable of. The organization believes that every young person can overcome obstacles to achieve an education and pursue their dreams, and the results speak for themselves. They work with students of all achievement levels, not just the highest-achieving students. The students are often the first generation in their families to aspire to higher education. The work creates a positive effect in families, neighborhoods and communities, as alumni from the program complete their college education, become role models and leaders in the community, and the cycle of success is transferred to future generations. Jennifer Lopata serves on the Educational Programs Committee for this important and highly effective organization.

She is happy to give back in a tangible way to her alma mater.
