Certified Professional Calculus AB and BC (AP) Tutoring
Calculus is offered at the high school level as a college-level AP course. Some schools offer Calculus AB while others offer AB and BC. Passing the AP test for Calculus AB earns the student one semester of college credit. Passing the AP test for Calculus BC earns the student one full year of college credit. Many students will not take Calculus until they are in college. However, high school courses cover material that will be included on the AP exams.
Calculus AB is roughly equal to the first semester of college calculus and includes topics in differential and integral calculus, such as:
- » Limits → one-sided limits, limits at infinity, limits of a sequence, infinite limits
- » Derivatives → estimate from tables and graphs, understand rules and properties, Mean Value Theorem
- » Integrals and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus → basic antiderivatives and substitutions, properties of integrals, area, volume and motion applications, the relationship between integration and differentiation

Calculus BC is equivalent to a full year of college calculus. It includes everything covered in Calculus AB plus extra material, so while one class isn’t necessarily harder than the other, Calculus BC will move faster since there is more material to cover in the school year. The curriculum will cover differential and integral calculus, including concepts and skills of limits, derivatives, definite integrals, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and series.
- » Functions, graphs, limits
- » Derivatives
- » Integrals
- » Polynomial approximations and series
- » Series of constants
- » Parametric, polar and vector functions
- » Taylor series
Both Calculus AB and BC are very challenging courses. The classes move quickly, so it’s important to keep up with the coursework. Our professional math tutors are very good at assessing the students’ strengths and weaknesses and helping students grasp the challenging concepts they are learning. Tutors will help with calculus homework and can also provide the students with practice questions that will aid in the learning process. Tutors will also help students prepare for quizzes and exams as well as the AP test for those who plan to take it.
